Pallet trucks, colloquially called “pallet jacks” are used to move loads over short distances and lift them only to a height that allows their transport, i.e. a maximum of 20 cm. Despite their delicate construction, the load capacity of pallet jacks oscillates around 2500 kg, and selected models even over 3 tons. Depending on the load capacity, trucks can have different fork dimensions. The range of this type of trucks includes forks with lengths from 800 to 2000 mm. They can also have different widths and spacing. Narrow fork trucks, with spacing of 140-450 mm, are more maneuverable, but therefore may be less stable. Wide fork trucks, with spacing of 680 mm, are mainly used for translocating box pallets or industrial pallets. The standard fork spacing is 520-550 mm.

Manual pallet trucks

Currently, these are the cheapest lifting vehicles available on the market. The lack of a built-in drive motor makes them light devices with uncomplicated construction. Their operation is equally simple and intuitive. The lifting system is based on the work of a pump, which must be set in motion by the person operating the truck.

Electric pallet trucks

A more advanced solution are pallet trucks with electric assistance. They significantly improve workplace productivity and will work in situations where faster equipment is needed. Their operation does not require the use of physical force, the lifting mechanism is carried out with the help of an efficient motor. This increases user comfort, eliminates physical fatigue of the employee, as well as potential injuries and spinal loads.

The use of electric drive translates into much greater lifting capacity than in standard pallet jacks. These trucks have different motor powers, which translates into their transport capabilities. Device control is carried out using buttons located on the tiller handle. The simplest trucks are guided from outside the vehicle. However, those equipped with a platform or operator seat are more structurally advanced. They significantly improve the process of transporting and moving, can reach speeds of up to 12 km/h. Electric pallet jacks, equipped with a motor and battery are heavier than standard manual trucks, which is also associated with a higher price of these devices.

Lifting fork truck and efficient load transport

Not every lifting truck is suitable for performing a given task. Its selection should depend on the type of room in which it will be used and on the load parameters. For a warehouse where goods are stored high, an electric lifting fork truck works best. And for horizontal transport we offer front lifting truck.
