Front electric forklifts
Due to their wide range of applications, electric forklifts are the most commonly used equipment for short-distance transport and logistics work. First – unlike vehicles with combustion engines – they do not emit harmful substances, thus fitting into the pro-ecological trend of running a business.
They can also be used without restrictions in unventilated and small spaces. Second: electric forklifts generate noise at a level of about 70-78 dB, which is significantly lower than combustion forklifts, and at the same time safe for their users.

This increases the comfort of forklift operators’ work and also enables their use in closed facilities adjacent to office space or sales halls. Third, electric forklifts are cheaper to operate – they do not generate fuel costs, their maintenance is not burdensome, and the use of advanced technologies makes them highly durable vehicles.
Electric or combustion forklift?
There is a common misconception that electric forklifts have lower lifting capacity and therefore weaker performance than heavy combustion-powered equipment. Thanks to the use of modern construction solutions, these forklifts handle transporting and lifting even multi-ton loads excellently. Various power supplies for these vehicles are available on the market: 24V, 48V and 80V. The compact dimensions of electric forklifts ensure maneuverability and ease of maneuvering.
This type of forklift does not require refueling but battery charging, which powers the vehicle with electrical energy. They use an alternating current (AC) motor, which ensures higher energy efficiency and driving and lifting dynamics. With additional motor insulation, it is possible to use electric forklifts for outdoor work. Technological development has led to huge progress in battery optimization. Heavy, lead-acid batteries of older generations have been replaced with lithium-ion ones.
Lithium-ion batteries for electric forklifts
Lithium-ion batteries are much lighter and more capacious, distinguished by small dimensions, short charging time (up to 20 minutes) and significantly longer lifespan (up to 5 thousand recharges). Batteries can work from several hours a day in basic models, to several dozen – in more professional ones. Currently, electric forklifts also use modern energy control systems that allow maximum extension of operating time on a single charge. In most models, the battery replacement method has also been improved. Side battery replacement does not require complicated operations and is significantly faster and easier.
There are numerous possibilities for equipping electric forklifts with additional attachments such as side shift, positioners, rotators, clamps, jibs. The safety and efficiency of the equipment is also influenced by the use of functions such as: energy recovery system during braking, driving on slopes and parking, automatic speed reduction for mast lifting and lowering, or operator presence sensor.
Three-wheel and four-wheel electric forklifts
There are two types of electric forklifts – three-wheel and four-wheel. Where high maneuverability and compact size are needed for work in narrow and hard-to-reach places, 3-wheel vehicles will work better. Four-wheel drive will be a better choice for tasks requiring stability and high lifting capacity.
No exhaust emissions, low noise and vibration levels, as well as minimizing the risk of product contamination are the main advantages of using electric forklifts. Therefore, they are particularly appreciated in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, electronic industries or in the demanding food industry. They can also be used in cold stores, freezers or explosion-hazardous zones. They are increasingly being used for tasks previously reserved for combustion forklifts.
