The great popularity of combustion forklifts equipped with gas installation results primarily from their universal application. They do not fall behind diesel-powered forklifts in efficiency, but unlike them, they have much fewer safety restrictions related to toxic exhaust emissions. Therefore, they can be used both in open spaces and in enclosed areas. In the latter case, the forklift should be equipped with appropriate filters. LPG front forklifts work excellently in difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.

The gas installation in a forklift includes: gas reducers, vaporizers, filters and gas mixers. An important role in this system is played by gas filters responsible for capturing and removing mechanical contaminants. Their regular replacement ensures system patency and smooth operation. Other key elements of this system include: solenoid valves with mechanical gas regulators, gas hoses, LPG cylinders with mounting brackets. Quick gas cylinder replacement eliminates work downtime. This gives gas-powered forklifts an advantage over electric vehicles, where battery charging takes even several hours. Longer periods of non-use do not affect the availability of LPG forklifts, while electrically powered vehicles require regular access to power supply.
Besides the obvious time-saving aspect, there is an economic factor, as gas forklifts have low operating costs. Their price is not high compared to the wide spectrum of applications. They are very easy to operate and suitable for very intensive use. Compared to diesel engine forklifts, they stand out with low vibration and noise levels.
Gas cylinders for LPG forklift trucks
The energy source for this type of forklifts are LPG cylinders with a capacity of 11 kg, although larger tanks also occur. They can be built into the vehicle or mounted externally on a special base at the rear of the forklift. They are usually mounted horizontally, much less frequently vertically. To increase vehicle efficiency, mountings for two or more cylinders are used. Cylinders used in forklifts are called siphon cylinders and differ from those intended for domestic use. The gas contained in them takes the form of a liquid mixture of gases such as propane, butane and other hydrocarbon gases, such as methane, ethane and propylene. Gas liquefaction allows reducing its volume by over 200%. Gas extraction is carried out using a tube placed inside the cylinder, which reaches the bottom of the tank and enables its complete emptying.
