The forklift mast is telescopic and consists of 2 or 3 sections. One inner section is raised relative to the outer section, which allows achieving the desired lifting height of the transported load.

What should be considered for a forklift mast?

When choosing a forklift, many parameters should be considered – lifting capacity, lifting height, type of attachments used, parameters of corridors between goods, maneuvering loads in trucks, etc. They have a direct impact on the type of mast required to perform a given task.

How to choose the right forklift mast

Each type of forklift mast is used in specific working conditions. If there are no particular difficulties with ceiling height, passages, or work is planned outdoors, then in such a situation a simple two-section Duplex mast works perfectly. If the load will be moved in trucks, wagons, low rooms, it is worth using a two-section mast with free lift. If the forklift is to be used at fairly high heights, but must pass through narrow passages or gates, the right choice is a 3-section Triplex mast.

How to install a new mast on warehouse equipment?

Use another lifting device (you can use a second forklift or a high-lift truck). Secure the mast being dismantled to the crane so that it does not wobble after dismantling.

Then all connecting elements, bolts and pipes should be removed. The pipes should be sealed with special plugs. The dismantled mast should be slightly lifted and the forklift being repaired moved away. This task takes several hours, so you should make sure that the second lift can handle the weight of the dismantled equipment.

The forklift mast should be carefully placed on prepared pallets. Under no circumstances should persons other than the foreman supervising the lowering from the side enter under the mast during the lowering of the structure.
