System trucks
System trucks, also called VNA trucks (Very Narrow Aisle) are designed to work in aisles only slightly wider than themselves, from 120 to 200 cm. These are multitasking devices with high handling capacity that are ideal for fast order picking. Their use increases the efficiency of internal transport and allows optimal use of warehouse space, which is extremely important in the face of rising logistics costs. These vehicles handle racks at heights up to 17.5 meters, and their lifting capacity ranges from 1200 to 1500 kg. Their undoubted advantage is the possibility of bilateral pallet picking in narrow warehouse aisles. The use of powerful AC motors allows achieving high driving speeds, up to 12 km per hour.
High-bay warehouse requirements
When deciding on system trucks, you need to ensure proper flooring. These devices work on high-quality industrial floors. They also require a wide transfer aisle (from 4.5 to 5 m) for turning and switching from one aisle to another, as well as inductive or rail-roller guidance. There is also a need to purchase an additional satellite truck that performs processes outside the rack zone, for going outside the building and handling loading and unloading of delivery vehicles. The automatic guidance system reduces the risk of operator error and allows them to focus on activities related to storage, picking and order completion.
Two-way and three-way system trucks
We distinguish between two-way system trucks and three-way ones. The fork rotation function around its own axis gives three-way trucks the ability to unload and load goods from any side of the aisle, also from the front and directly from the warehouse floor – which two-way trucks cannot perform. Their advantage, on the other hand, is working in narrower aisles.
System trucks Man-Up and Man-Down
Due to the location of the operator cabin, we divide system trucks into Man-Up and Man-Down. In the first case, the cabin is movable and rises together with the forks. This option allows the worker to combine pallet handling operations with order picking. The Man-Down version is less popular, tasks are performed from floor level, and the cabin is attached to the device body.
System trucks can be extensively customized to your own needs and the specifics of the place where they will work.
