Front-End Forklifts Diesel
Diesel forklifts equipped with a compression ignition engine – diesel – are designed for intensive multi-shift work in open spaces. These are vehicles extremely resistant to damage – they perform their tasks without failure in the harshest weather conditions: with temperature fluctuations, heavy precipitation or intense sunlight. They also work well on medium and long travel routes, uneven surfaces or in dirty and dusty environments. With proper operation, they are characterized by long durability. They can work all day long. Their efficiency is significantly increased by the lack of need for longer breaks.
Diesel front-end forklift or gas forklift?
Diesel engines have much more power than electric or LPG drives. Refueling the fuel tank takes less time than charging batteries or replacing gas cylinders. A major advantage of diesel-powered forklifts is their lifting capacity, which typically ranges from 1,000 to 50,000 kg. Despite their advanced parameters, they are relatively simple to operate.
Compared to electric forklifts or those with LPG engines, they are slightly more expensive to purchase. However, they have low operating costs. A large fuel tank is sufficient for several hours of forklift operation. Moreover, a full tank does not limit the vehicle’s maneuverability – unlike gas forklifts, which have an external fuel tank.
Using diesel-powered forklifts indoors
The emission of exhaust gases and noise level generated by diesel-powered forklifts, in most cases, exclude their use in enclosed spaces. However, the use of appropriate filters and cleaning devices conditionally allows these vehicles to work inside buildings. High engine quality will result in lower fuel consumption, low vibration levels and ensure quiet operation of the equipment.
Particulate filters and exhaust gas control systems
New forklift models are standard equipped with DPF particulate filters and EGR exhaust gas control systems. The task of DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is to clean the exhaust gases escaping from the vehicle’s exhaust system, which results in, among other things, eliminating black smoke emissions. The EGR system (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) reduces the oxygen content in the air supplied to the combustion chamber, while reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
Diesel-powered forklifts are indispensable in construction work. They will also work well in factories, industrial plants, ports, and everywhere where relocation and machine production is part of the activity. These forklifts also have enormous configuration possibilities, which increase work efficiency and provide numerous conveniences. The operator’s cabin can be open or full, equipped with radio, air conditioning and heating. Various types of masts are available, fork positioners, fork extensions, side shifters, additional hydraulic valves, specialized attachments, snow plows. Tires can be pneumatic or super-elastic, also with dual front wheels. Equipping the forklift with cameras will significantly expand the field of vision.
