Are you wondering what gas for forklifts would be suitable? In various industries, gas-powered forklifts are commonly used. This type of equipment has certain advantages. First of all, they operate very quietly and are quite inexpensive in terms of operation. Moreover, replacing cylinders when the gas runs out won’t be much of a problem. However, when owning this type of forklift, we must select the appropriate type of gas for it. Most often we consider choosing LPG or CNG. So what gas for forklifts will be the best? Below, we will try to describe both mentioned solutions in more detail.

LPG or CNG? Gas for forklifts

Cylinders that are adapted for installation on forklifts can contain two types of gas, namely LPG and CNG. Authorized distributors will provide us with the option to configure the equipment according to our individual needs and expectations. It should be emphasized in this situation that most gas forklifts have an installation adapted to LPG cylinders. It’s worth knowing the advantages of both these solutions. A seemingly easy choice may, however, turn out to be very complicated for us.

LPG gas for forklift – why is it worth choosing?

Gas cylinders used for installation on forklifts can contain various types of gas – CNG or LPG. Undoubtedly, in order to use the selected type, it will be necessary to introduce modifications to the forklift. Today, LPG-powered forklifts can boast a larger number of users. Such gas consists of two types of compounds, which are butane and propane. The advantage of such a solution is the fact that most of the forklifts currently on the market have been adapted to use LPG cylinders, so there is no need to spend additional funds on converting the installation.

Moreover, LPG gas is also more easily available, which means we can buy it without problems whenever it runs out. Additionally, such gas is stored under much lower pressure compared to natural gas, and the cylinders are characterized by lower weight, as a thinner layer of steel can be used to make them.

CNG gas for forklift – advantages

Forklifts powered by CNG gas are mainly chosen by companies that have planned to use a large fleet. Purchasing forklifts with such installation is a long-term investment. Operating in the long term turns out to be much cheaper. However, it will be necessary to invest in a gas charging station.

It’s worth noting that CNG gas can be three times cheaper than LPG. This gas is natural and its resources are almost unlimited, as it is continuously collected beneath the earth’s surface. During the CNG combustion process, no substances harmful to our health are released. Natural gas is an ecological solution. It is lighter than air and quickly disperses in the atmosphere. LPG gas unfortunately settles close to the ground, which increases the risk of fire ignition and thus explosion.
